Support Starts Here: FAQ

  • How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, stressed, or just curious about personal growth, therapy can be a valuable space to explore those feelings. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. If you're unsure, we can schedule a consultation to discuss your goals and see if working together feels like a good fit.

  • What’s the difference between talking to a friend and talking to a counselor?

While friends can be supportive, therapy offers a confidential, nonjudgmental space guided by a licensed professional trained in evidence-based approaches. A counselor helps you explore patterns, develop insight, and work toward meaningful change without bias or personal involvement. Therapy is structured to support your unique goals and emotional wellbeing.

  • Is therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of counseling. What you share in session stays between us, with a few exceptions required by law. These include situations involving harm to self or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult, or if records are subpoenaed by a court. I will always do my best to discuss these situations with you should they arise.

  • Do you offer virtual (telehealth) sessions?

Yes, I exclusively offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy sessions. This allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space, wherever you are in Texas. All you need is a stable internet connection and a device with video and audio capability. Virtual sessions offer flexibility while maintaining the same quality of care as in-person therapy.

  • Do you accept insurance, and how does billing work?

Yes, I accept insurance and bill through Headway, a platform that helps manage scheduling and insurance claims. I am currently in-network with Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar, Quest Behavioral Health, Carelon Behavioral Health, and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for Bank of America. Payment for any applicable copays or deductibles is due at the time of service.

  • What are the counseling fees?

If you're not using insurance, my fee for the initial intake session is $125. Ongoing individual sessions (50 minutes) are $100 each. I accept payment by credit/debit card, including HSA and FSA cards. I am committed to making mental health support accessible and strive to provide services tailored to the unique experiences of the LGBT and Latinx communities.
